Palm Pre News Roundup
Quite a lot of news is trickling in about Palm Pre and some of it is really exciting.
- Palm Pre Will Sync With iTunes: The feature will be built right into the device so you don’t need any third party software. But it won’t be able to play the songs you bought from iTunes Store as they have DRM. (via appleblog and tuaw)
- Verizon to Sell Palm Pre in 6 Months:Verizon Wireless plans to start selling Palm Pre and a new version of the touchscreen BlackBerry Storm in about six months, the top executive for the venture of Verizon Communications and Vodafone Group said on Thursday. (via reuters). This is really big. verizon is huge and has much better coverage than Sprint or At&T. They have been losing some customers to AT&T due to iPhone. Pre will allow them to stop that slide and offer a real competitor to iPhone. This is a win-win for both Palm and Verizon. Many were of the opinion that the biggest weakness of Pre might be its sole association with Sprint. If verizon backs Pre, it has a huge potential to be a hit.
- Hands on With Palm Pre: Boygenius got hold a Palm Pre and has published a mini review. Quite a lot of negatives. They feel that device feels plasticky and it seems typing on the Pre can be quite difficult. Since the device is still not out and since reviews are subjective, it is better to wait till the device actually launches to give a verdict on it.
- Palm Pre Will Fail: Based on BoyGenius’ review Crunchgear (part of Techcrunch) boldy claims that Palm Pre wil be an also ran and will fail to make a big impact. They think that it has been hyped too much and it will fail to meet people’s expectations.
