Firefox 3.6 vs Chrome vs Safari – Javascript Performance
Firefox 3.6 brings with it an updated javascript core, which tries to bridge the performance gap between Firefox and Chrome/Safari. As usual, Firefox performance on the v8 benchmark is pathetic where Chrome is more than 10 times faster. It is 24% faster than version 3.5.4 in V8 but it is clearly not enough. In the sunspider test, chrome is 2 times as fast as firefox. In this test, 3.6 is 17% faster than 3.5.4. Safari too comfortably beats Firefox in both these benchmarks
Apple Revamps Trailers Page
For long, Apple has made only incremental improvements to the trailers pages. Though it was designed well, it was a little bland for a product as dynamic as movies, with little difference between the different movie pages. That has changed. Apple has been slowly adding trailers page which incorporate large posters of the movie. The most welcome addition is the ability to download the trailers directly without going via iTunes.

Though Google has taken away many customers from OpenDNS (like me) OpenDNS hasn’t given up and is indeed upping their game. The network improvements are in North America and Europe and this may help it to catch up to or better Google in Europe where in many areas Google had come out on top.
Chrome For Mac Beta
If you were using the dev channel, you won’t be seeing an appreciable difference as the beta is just a specific dev build (4.0.249.30) which has been promoted to the Beta. Unfortunately, the mac beta is without many features

Google DNS vs OpenDNS: Google Rocks for International Users
Slow DNS resolving is one of the major causes of browsing slowdowns. (If you don’t know what is DNS look at the end of the post). The DNS services provided by the ISPs were often crappy and erratic and OpenDNS had emerged as the de-facto alternative. OpenDNS was not without its faults. Though it was rarely erratic, the performance was not blazing fast.Google in its quest to make the internet faster has stepped into the arena with Google Public DNS
